While Lincoln City and Cardiff City have been engaged in their own personal battle for the League One title, with the Imps eventually running away with it, the rest of the division have been busy taking lumps out of each other.
No-one came close to challenging those two which almost made the automatic promotion race a bit of an anti-climax.
Fortunately what has developed behind Lincoln and Cardiff has turned into something pretty engrossing, while at the other end of the table Exeter and Leyton Orient will try to consign each other to League Two.

Wanderers waiting on play-off opponents
Only Bolton Wanderers (75 points) are guaranteed their place in the play-offs with the sides below them seemingly unwilling or unable to get over the line in recent weeks which has left a five-way battle to join them in the end-of-season shootout.
Stockport (74pts) are fourth and were expected to secure their spot on Tuesday only to lose 2-1 at home to already relegated Port Vale, which means they need a point at Barnsley on Saturday book their place.
Defeat for County though could be catastrophic as Bradford City, Stevenage and Lut, Town - who have an identical goal difference to Dave Challinor's side - could all overtake them with wins.
Bradford (74pts) also need the minimum of a draw at relegation-threatened Exeter to stay in the top six and, while they could still make it with a defeat, will not want to leave it all to chance.
That then leaves a three-way tug-of-war for the final spot which will be taken by Stevenage (72pts) if they win against Wigan Athletic.
If Alex Revell's side drop points then that would open the door for one of Luton Town (71pts), who go to Bolton, or Plymouth (70pts) who visit already relegated Northampton Town.
Tom Cleverley's Argyle need to win and hope both Stevenage and Luton fail to take three points.
Grecians and O's face date with destiny
With Northampton Town, Rotherham United and Port Vale already preparing for League Two football next season, one of Exeter City (49pts) or Leyton Orient (51pts) will join them.
The Grecians, with just one win from their past 19 games, must beat Bradford City and then hope Leyton Orient lose or draw at home to Burton Albion.
Victory over the Bantams will be no mean feat for Exeter given they have won only three games at St James Park since the turn of the year.
A run of four straight wins in March seemed to have calmed the nerves for a Leyton Orient side who were play-off finalists last season, but a seven-game winless sequence has kept them hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone.
Their inferior goal difference of four also raises the tension as a draw against Burton coupled with any kind of win for the Grecians puts Richie Wellens' side in the bottom four and bound for League Two.
